Quitman County has completed a draft pre-disaster mitigation plan for 2018-2022; identifying hazards believed to be most likely to occur in the community, and how to prevent/minimize losses than commonly result from such events. This plan is required for the community to be eligible for funds to help prepare for, and recover from, major hazard events. A public hearing will be held 7:00 p. m., Friday, January 12, 2018 in the county commissioners meeting room at 25 Old School Rd., Georgetown, GA 39854 to hear a brief presentation of plan contents and offer input and suggestions for plan improvements.
